　上田電鉄別所温泉線の終点駅で、別所温泉の玄関口。上田丸子電鉄時代からのレトロな駅舎が使用されている。また、モハ5250形の「丸窓電車」が保存されている。駅舎内には、別所温泉の観光案内所もある。
